WITS tells the story of Eddie, Amanda, and Tyler, Black teenagers on the cusp of graduating high school as they wait to hear if they've been admitted to a prestigious dance conservatory. At the same time, Eddie’s brother Cool and his posse live with the stigma of being neighborhood nobodies, both relishing and eschewing the bottom rung of the social ladder. As the anxieties of all the characters reach a fever pitch brought on by their encounters with racial subjugation and classism, they are offered an escape: an opportunity to travel the stars with an extraterrestrial being.
