Creature

Creature is a modern queer variation on the Frankenstein myth. Leo and his husband, David, are scientists who have devoted themselves to creating life beyond death as a way to fend off David’s terminal illness. When David dies, Leo puts the brain of his deceased husband into the body of their new creation and thus the creature comes to life. Locking him in a windowless basement, Leo slowly teaches the creature the ways of the outside world, looking for signs of David in this new body. Trapped in their own dark world, Leo and his creature fall in love. However, the more the creature learns, the more he becomes his own autonomous being and the more Leo loses any traces of his husband. Told through a dreamy, chamber pop score, Creature is an exploration of queer identity, grief and learning how to love in the darkest of times.
