David Kornfeld
David Kornfeld is beyond thrilled to be going to Camp for a second time! He is a Sonoma-grown, Birmingham-based composer, music director, multi-instrumentalist, and coffee snob. Following his recent role as Associate Conductor of ALANIS MORISSETTE’S JAGGED LITTLE PILL (Broadway first national tour), he has been heard in various theatres around Birmingham including the Tony-winning Red Mountain Theatre, and his music direction has garnered him an Ostrander Award nomination. In 2024, he and collaborator Alex Higgin-Houser took part in DCC’s inaugural cohort to develop their folk/Americana musical, HAYMARKET, which had previously won Chicago’s Jeff Award for Best Original Musical. His other works include an experimental found-text musical MICROCOSMOS: A NEURO-ATYPICAL ROCK ODYSSEY, written with lyricist/librettist Rebecca Hart, developed with the Civilians R&D Group residency, and 57TH NATIONAL MATHLETE SUM-IT, written with Alex Higgin-Houser & Laura Stratford, which was featured at NYMF and is now licensed by Theatrical Rights Worldwide.
A co-founder and resident MD of Underscore Theatre Company in Chicago, David produced over 40 world premiere musicals from 2011-2016, before receiving his MFA from NYU Tisch’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. Next up, he will be joining the SHUCKED Broadway first national tour for a limited engagement on guitar and keyboard. His first feature film score, SWEET MEATS, from Troma Entertainment, premieres March 2025. He lives with his wife, daughter, and their two rescue pups who hate everyone.
