The dramatic, Balkan-infused rock siren Sylvana Joyce has played over 1000 shows in the Northeast with her band Sylvana Joyce + The Moment, including Webster Hall, Soundstage Arena, and have opened for major internationally touring acts such as The Aristocrats and Nikka Costa. SJ+TMs sophomore LP “Heavyhead” (2017) is a dark, orchestral record with theatrical and dynamic propulsion, and is the inspiration for a new musical being written in collaboration with Stephanie Salzman (multi-platinum, Grammy nominated songwriter) and Patricia Cotter (Emmy Award winning playwright) in a modern retelling of the Medusa myth. The Moment recently toured nationally in award-winning The Last Match: A Pro-Wrestling Rock Experience, for which Sylvana also contributed as composer/lyricist with husband C. Robert Smith (dir. Jeremiah James Schalberg, book: Jason Huza).
