Andi Carter
THRU: An Appalachian Trail Musical
Andi Carter (he/they) writes in all media for the stage including plays, comedy sketches, musicals, and operas. He holds an MFA in Musical Theatre Writing from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He has been a member of the Theatre Now NY Writers Lab since 2019. He is a 2023-2025 librettist fellow with American Opera Projects and a member of the 2025 NYU Advanced Opera Lab. He is the founder and Artistic Director of Fish out of Water Productions, a cross-cultural theatre collective created in Beijing, China in 2008. He is a founding board member of Musical Theatre Factory which has developed hundreds of new musicals since 2014 including Broadway and Off-Broadway hits. He also enjoys making short films and was a 2021 Documentary Intensive fellow with BRIC Arts Media. He produces a monthly cabaret series featuring emerging musical theatre writers at Soho Playhouse and he writes a blog about sci-fi musicals.
